What led her here.

Gillmen was always an inquisitive child, type searcher of Christmas presents and finder of keys before any apartment's exit. Voted most likely to have the dirt on you in highschool, year book picture came out pretty good. 

It was in her blood, mom was an expert art historian for the local museum, and her stepfather was an SIU Investigator. 

Once a claim was denied, he'd become in his ways, causing his than protectorit to make a promise to herself, "her search for truth would be for others."

Her mother was much the same way, instilling justice's worth over profit. Many a hungry night, a chilly sleep condoned thoughts of righteous, for the world is not built by the righteous. 

Something Lana discovered due to that of her birth father's continued actions on up to the day of his death. 

Car theft, fixed gambling, "suicide by cop". That's what they call it when a criminal gets guned down attempting to run an armed barricade. 

Her jobs found out about it, forcing the early years of her career to be plagued with "it bleeds it leads" tabloid phooey. 

It wasn't till Kat took an interest in a smear piece she wrote about the once great PremiumMan. The four page hit piece was poignant and well written, "wasted where you are," was the text she received. 

Started in the office pack the next day. No transfer, Kat had more respect for her simply showing up after an off handed invite. Lana's new boss knew about Muller Wicbeast, Gillmen's dad. She had reported on a car theft of his more than need mention. 

The topic of father's would arise around the office, Kat made jokes to the point where things became conflated beyond any understanding. 

A jet boat racer, sky diver, lawyer, Gillmen rather enjoyed that one. She'd join in on the smoke screen. Up to the day of her death her boss kept her secret, Lana kept her drive. 

In a sense to carry on for them both, it felt right. 

As of late, The Star Empress has opened the last remaining vestige of Earth's total knowledge and before all that good stuff gets classified, some questions need to be asked.
